Steve Osgathorp - TEAM CHAIRPERSON

Whilst very active in my youth, playing football and badminton several times a week, by the time I’d reached my thirties all of my exercise had disappeared in favour of a more relaxed lifestyle.

But, in 2005 I started cycling to work. It was only 3 miles it was a start. I attempted London to Brighton (L2B) that same year managing 38 miles and I was hooked. In 2006 I packed up smoking, started cycling more and completed L2B, my fitness had started to improve, but by mid 2007 I realised that if I was to run more than 20yards without gasping for breath that cycling alone wasn’t enough.

I had often seen triathletes coming and going at the Kingfisher Centre where I worked as a Lifeguard, it had always interested me that they were good at 3 different sports. By the middle of 2008 still thinking about Triathlons I decided to Google ‘Triathlons’ and Human Race and their Supersprint race came up. In May ’09 and entered it there and then, knowing I had 9 months to get a whole lot fitter. During these 9 months I went along to several ‘Z-Tri Sessions and it was there that I met Colin and was persuaded to come to swimming sessions as well. In May 2009 having been a member of ‘Z-Tri’ for 1 year I completed my first Supersprint and WOW what a buzz when I came across the line.

Just 6 months later I am now the Chair of the newly formed ‘RG Active Race Team SW London/Surrey’. And as we head into 2010 with a fantastic bunch of athletes I know this is going to be a brilliant season for us all.

Richard (Richie) Wild - TEAM CAPTAIN

It's going to be a great year training and racing with the RG Active Race Team which in my opinion is the best Tri club around!! The club is looking at exciting times ahead and I am honoured to be the Race Team Captain. My role is to be here should anyone need anything about any of the racing going on within the Team, so do not hesitate to email me if you need me.

I've been competing in triathlons for a out 4 years now after years of competing in mountain biking. Like lots of people I wanted a change and triathlon was it, I've been hooked ever since my first race and have not looked back! My main competitive races are standard (Olympic) distance and am training hard to make this my best season to date!

Note: I usually have bags of Jelly Babies at the races so if you spot them (or me) come say hello!!

John Walsh - TEAM TREASURER

Triathlon, I love it! I can remember exactly where I was when I got bitten by the triathlon bug (thankfully I didn't get bitten by anything else). I was In Dorney lake at Eton, waiting for the horn to start the 2007 Bananaman. Even then, I knew I was in the right place and that I'd be back for more. I was competing as part of a team with my two brothers and although we came last overall I loved every second and have been improving ever since!

I did go and swap the solid lead hybrid for a sexy lightweight road bike as soon as got home! ha ha

I have quite a busy life running my own business and am father to my one daughter, so sometimes the training can get squeezed a little, but I enjoy every second of it and am looking forward to many more triathlons, and who knows, maybe an Iron Man one day?

I love being a member of RG Active Race Team. I doubt very much if I'd be doing what I do without them. The support, advice, coaching and comaraderie are vital to my continued involvement with the Team!

John Brame - TEAM WEBMASTER and COACH

My jobs within the Race Team include the updating and running of the Team website and the 'techno' side of the RG Active Race Team. I also play a part in the coaching and the training of the growing number of athletes within the Team.

Outside of the Race Team I own RG Active (with Dermott Hayes of the East London/Essex Regional Team). RG Active is the Coaching and Training Company whose name is attached to the Race Team, so I am very proud to be involved with the Race Team and a part of the Commitee that is working towards the running and improving of the Team.
